Major honours
The only original KBO club never to change city or corporate parent, and the team with the most Korean Series appearances. After losing the inaugural 1982 Series to OB, it fell in six more finals through 1993 and earned a "runners-up specialist" tag — its only early crown came in 1985 when a first-/second-half sweep meant no Series was played. That curse ended against LG in 2002. Titles followed in 2005 and 2006, then a four-peat of both the regular season and Korean Series from 2011 to 2014 under manager Ryu Joong-il. Lee Seung-yuop's 56 home runs in 2003 set the Asian single-season mark at the time; Oh Seung-hwan saved 47 games in 2011. Lions Park, opened in 2016, is an octagonal park of about 24,000 seats.

Rivalry
The Nakdong River Derby against the Lotte Giants is one of KBO's biggest box-office cards — southeastern civic pride. Historically the 1980s–90s feud with Haitai cut deeper, and meeting KIA again in the 2024 Korean Series revived it.
