Major honours
A franchise whose history is movement: Philadelphia, Kansas City, Oakland, and from 2025 a temporary home in a minor-league park in West Sacramento. Connie Mack managed fifty years in Philadelphia and built two dynasties (1910–1914 and 1929–1931) for six titles; after the Oakland move, the moustachioed Mustache Gang won three straight from 1972 to 1974, and another title followed in the 1989 Bay Bridge Series. Career World Series: nine; AL pennants: fifteen. The club's deepest imprint on the sport is methodological — Billy Beane's 2002 team won 103 games and an AL-record twenty straight on a bottom-third payroll, becoming the subject of Moneyball. Final Oakland attendance in 2024 was about 920,000, last in the league; the temporary arrangement continues until a Las Vegas ballpark is finished.

Rivalry
The Bay Bridge rivalry with the San Francisco Giants peaked in the 1989 World Series, remembered less for baseball than for the Loma Prieta earthquake that halted play for ten days before Game 3.
