Major honours
Born in Brooklyn and relocated to Los Angeles in 1958, the club remade the sport in both cities. Brooklyn was where Branch Rickey debuted Jackie Robinson in 1947; the California move made baseball a continental business. Nine World Series titles and 26 National League pennants sit alongside 23 World Series appearances. Brooklyn's only title in 1955, Sandy Koufax's 1963 and 1965, and Kirk Gibson's 1988 walk-off remain generational landmarks; since 2020 the richest club in the sport has used Shohei Ohtani's ten-year, $700 million deal and the signing of Yoshinobu Yamamoto to win consecutive titles in 2024 and 2025. Dodger Stadium, opened in 1962 with 56,000 seats, is the largest ballpark in MLB and led the league in attendance again in 2024 with 3.94 million.

Rivalry
The feud with the San Francisco Giants is the sport's longest, dating to the nineteenth century when both still played in Brooklyn and Manhattan. When both clubs moved to California in 1958, the rivalry relocated wholesale to the West Coast.
