Major honours
KBO's most titled club and the only team to win every Korean Series it has reached — twelve appearances, twelve titles. Founded as the Haitai Tigers in 1982, it won first in 1983, then four straight from 1986 to 1989, and nine titles by 1997, dominating the 1980s and 1990s. Sun Dong-yol's career 1.20 ERA remains a KBO record; Lee Jong-beom hit .393 with 84 steals in 1994. After Kia Motors bought the club amid corporate crisis in 2001, further titles in 2009, 2017 and 2024 brought the total to twelve. Yang Hyeon-jong has spent his entire career here and owns the KBO career wins record. Champions Field, opened in 2014 with about 20,500 seats, drew roughly 1.2 million in 2024, the year KBO first passed ten million fans league-wide.

Rivalry
Haitai versus the Samsung Lions was KBO's sharpest rivalry in the 1980s and 1990s; the clubs met in the Korean Series in 1986, 1987 and 1993, with Haitai winning all three. In 2024 KIA beat Samsung 4–1 in the Series and revived the feud for a new generation.
