Major honours
NPB's second-oldest club and, by reputation, Japan's most fervent fan culture. Only two Japan Series titles — 1985 and 2023 — but the thirty-eight-year gap between them shaped the franchise's identity. In 1985 Randy Bass, Masayuki Kakefu and Akinobu Okada led the lineup past Seibu for the first crown; in 2023 Okada returned as manager to deliver the second. In 2025 the club clinched the Central League on 7 September, the earliest date in league history. Koshien Stadium, opened in 1924, is Japan's oldest and largest baseball ground at about 47,500 seats; each August it hosts the national high-school tournament, forcing the Tigers onto a long road trip. Home attendance in 2024 ran near 2.9 million, among NPB's highest.

Rivalry
The Traditional Rivalry with the Yomiuri Giants is Japanese pro baseball's signature fixture. On 17 April 1985 at Koshien, Bass, Kakefu and Okada hit three consecutive home runs into the back screen off Yomiuri pitching — still the rivalry's defining image.
