Major honours
It began in 1908 as the All-Russia Lawn Tennis Club Union, but tennis stayed marginal through the Soviet years; real growth followed the federation's 1991 reorganization. Moscow's Spartak Club was the hub — Kafelnikov, Safin, Myskina and Dementieva trained together, and Kafelnikov's 1996 Roland Garros title was Russia's first major singles crown. 2004 was the apex: Myskina, Sharapova and Kuznetsova won three of four women's majors in one season, while the Fed Cup brought four titles from 2004 to 2008. Men won the Davis Cup in 2002 and 2006, and in 2021 the RTF swept both team trophies. Since 2022 Russia has been excluded from ITF team events; players compete on tour under neutral status without national designation. Daniil Medvedev reached world No. 1 in 2022.
