Major honours
Founded in 1897 by students in Turin, Juventus has been run since 1923 by the Agnelli family, owners of Fiat, making it the club most closely tied to Italian industrial capital. As of 2024-25 its 36 Serie A titles are the most in Italy, built on a run of five straight titles in the 1930s and nine consecutive titles beginning in 2011-12. In Europe, by contrast, Juventus has reached nine finals but won only two (1985, 1996), a gap between domestic and continental success that follows the club everywhere. The first of those wins, in 1985, came in a match played on despite the deaths of 39 fans before kickoff in the Heysel disaster, leaving it a trophy no one could celebrate. In 2006 Juventus was hit with Italian football's harshest-ever penalty, the Calciopoli refereeing-assignment scandal, which relegated the club to Serie B and stripped its 2005 and 2006 titles; it returned to the top flight after a single season and resumed its domestic dominance. The Allianz Stadium, opened in 2011, was Italy's first modern club-owned stadium.

The Derby d'Italia against Inter is a rivalry between clubs from different cities that deepened considerably after Calciopoli. The Derby della Mole against fellow Turin club Torino has been lopsided ever since the 1949 Superga air disaster wiped out the Torino squad.
