Founded in 1924, the Bruins were the first NHL club based in the United States. Titles followed in 1929, 1939, and 1941 before a 29-year wait ended with Bobby Orr's overtime winner in 1970. Another title in 1972 and 39 more years passed until 2011, when Boston shut out Vancouver 4–0 in Game 7 for a sixth Cup. Twenty-nine consecutive playoff berths from 1968 to 1996 remain the NHL record. The 65-win, 135-point 2022–23 season set single-season wins and points records yet ended in a first-round Game 7 loss to Florida — proof that the regular-season best team does not always win it all. Patrice Bergeron's six Selke Trophies capture the club's defensive identity.

Rivalry

Thirty-four playoff series against Montreal are the most repeated matchup in NHL history, with Montreal's edge a long-standing wound. Feuds with Toronto and Philadelphia carry separate meaning for the fan base.
